Drs R.W.L. Godschalk

Dr. Roger Godschalk studied biological health sciences at Maastricht University and graduated in 1995. He obtained his PhD at the Department of Health Risk Analysis & Toxicology at Maastricht University and received the NUTRIM-thesis award supported by the foundation 'Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek inzake Circulatie- en Voedingsproblemen' (WOCV).

From June 1999 till November 2002, he worked at the Department of Toxicology and Cancer Risk Factors at the German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg, Germany. During this period he obtained a 'visiting scientist award' of the German Cancer Research Center, an EU-Young Investigator Award at the 6th International Symposium on biological reactive intermediates and a Marie-Curie Fellowship for 2 years.

In November 2002, he was appointed as Assistant Professor at the Department of Health Risk Analysis and Toxicology of Maastricht University. Dr. Godschalk is specialised in genetic toxicology and molecular epidemiology, and his current research interests focus on common genetic polymorphisms that influence susceptibility to carcinogens and the application of biomarkers in cancer risk assessment.
