Affiliated graduate schools
FASoS’ PhD candidates attend National Research School (NRSs) courses several times per year, often in sessions of several days. Apart from providing disciplinary training, membership in a NRS helps them build a network of fellow PhDs and professors outside the UM. They thus offer integration into the academic life of specific disciplines. FASoS thus sees participating in NRSs as highly beneficial.
FASoS is either a formal member or sends some of its PhD candidates to the following NRSs:
- ARCHON: the Dutch inter-university research and graduate school for archaeology;
- CERES: Research School for Resource Studies for Development;
- Huizinga Institute: Dutch National Research School for Cultural History;
- LOT: Landelijke Onderzoeksschool Taalwetenschap (Netherlands Graduate School of Linguistics);
- NICA: Netherlands Institute for Cultural Analysis;
- NIG: Research School for Public Administration & Political Science in the Netherlands and Flanders;
- NOG: Netherlands Research School of Gender Studies;
- OPG: Onderzoeksschool Politieke Geschiedenis (Research School for Political History);
- OSL: Onderzoeksschool Literatuurwetenschap (Research School for Literary Studies);
- OZSW: Dutch Research School of Philosophy;
- Posthumus Institute: Research School for Economic and Social History;
- RMeS: The Research School for Media Studies;
- WTMC: the Graduate School of Science, Technology and Modern Culture.
