Hester van der Kaaij appointed Vice Dean of Education
Hester van der Kaaij has been appointed as our new Vice Dean of Education. Van der Kaaij succeeds Sjoerd Claessens and will officially assume this role at the start of the new academic year.
“I am excited to take on the role of Vice Dean of Education. Ever since our faculty was founded 45 years ago, education and our vision on teaching have held a special place within the Faculty of Law. Having experienced the evolution of our education both as a student and as a lecturer, I have seen firsthand what makes our faculty unique: the tremendous enthusiasm and dedication of both staff and students to deliver the best possible education every single day. I see it as my responsibility to continue supporting these efforts in the years ahead.
I also look forward to contributing to the further strategic development and quality assurance of our educational programmes, while strengthening their connection to legal practice. The emergence of AI presents new challenges and opportunities. It encourages us to reflect once again on what defines a well-trained legal professional and how we can best prepare our students for the future of the legal profession.”
