Katleen Gabriels new Head of Department of Philosophy
It is our great pleasure to announce the appointment of a new Head of Department. As of 1 September, Katleen Gabriels will become Head of Department of Philosophy. Katleen brings managerial and leadership experience to this position. This includes her role as programme director of the Bachelor Digital Society (2020-2024) and her membership of the Maastricht Young Academy (2022-2026). From 2020 to 2022, she helped shape the UM’s Recognition & Rewards policy as a member of the working group on ‘impact’. Since 2023, she is the UM theme coordinator ('Trekker') for the Social Science and Humanities sector plan themes ‘Humane AI’ and ‘The Human Factor in New Technologies’. Since 2025, she is a member of the FASoS Problem-Based Learning revision steering group.
We warmly congratulate Katleen on her appointment. We wish her every success in her new role.
