Spark Session: a Critical Bestiaries - Research-in-Progress Work Session with Sina Seifee
Venue: The Plant at FASoS (Grote Gracht 76, ground floor).
Dear all,
We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming MACCH Spark Session: a Critical Bestiaries - Research-in-Progress Work Session with Sina Seifee on Tuesday 24 February 2026, 14.30-16:30pm at The Plant at FASoS (Grote Gracht 76, ground floor).
During this SPARK session, Sina will open up his Professional Doctorate project How to inherit stories? – Artistic Research as Constructive and Critical Memory Work and invite a working conversation around it. The research reimagines medieval Persian bestiaries through game-making and high dark fantasy world-building, asking how interactive 3D media can act as a memory practice, especially for diasporic and more-than-human histories. He will share early materials and outline the methodological questions he is working on: how to orient towards the past, how to treat heritage as a site of experimental attunement, and what modes of inquiry digital media enables and disables.
About the speaker:
Sina Seifee (Tehran, 1982) is an artist and researcher based in Brussels and a Professional Doctorate candidate at What Art Knows (Zuyd Hogeschool / Academy of Arts Maastricht). His work investigates how knowledge and imagination take form through storytelling, performance, and digital media, with a long-term engagement with the heritage of zoology in West Asia. Trained in mathematics, media arts, and artistic research, he has presented internationally at WIELS (Brussels 2020), Sharjah Art Foundation (Sharjah 2018), SAVVY Contemporary (Berlin 2016), Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin 2017), Temporary Gallery (Köln 2019), and others. He is an alumni and former mentor of a.pass in Brussels.
We hope you can join us for Sina’s workshop on Persian bestiaries and storytelling through digital media. Please email us at macch@maastrichtuniversity.nl to confirm that you will be attending. We look forward to seeing you there! All are welcome, so please feel free to share this invitation in your networks.
All our best,
