MCLJ Annual Conference 2026: “Law in a changing world”
Legal ordering is changing, both globally and domestically. Some talk about a post-American order, others about a new order of Great Powers such as China, Russia or the United States. A power-based concept of law is being put forward, one more characteristic of other centuries. Ecological and technological developments are further challenging legal ordering. What are the implications domestically and internationally of these changes for how we understand basic legal concepts such as agency, rights and obligations, responsibility or the markets?
The Maastricht Centre for Law & Jurisprudence (MCLJ) invites you to the second MCLJ Annual Conference on 27/28 January 2026, with a keynote by Prof. Ingo Venzke (titled: “Fossil Sovereignty: The Struggle for Law in the Climate Crisis”) and four panels with speakers from within and outside the MCLJ, representing the variety of interdisciplinary research pursued by the centre.
