The GEDIP (European Group of Private International Law) meets in Maastricht!

Founded in 1991, the European Group of Private International Law is an influential think tank focused on the interactions between private international law and European law.  It serves as a forum for exchanging information and ideas for scientific and academic purposes and for developing soft law that seeks to influence the progressive development of the private international law of the European Union.

The membership, which is limited in number, is primarily composed of university academics from across the Member States of the European Union. The Group holds an annual three-day meeting hosted by one of the members. With support from the Law Faculty and LEO, Prof. M. Pertegás Sender and her team are delighted to host the 2026 GEDIP Annual Meeting from 17 to 19 September 2026. 

To mark this important gathering for the private international law community, an open event (workshop) for academics and practitioners will be held on 17 September on the recast of the Brussels I Regulation and its application to litigation where the defendant is domiciled outside the European Union.
