Gladys Akom Ankobrey's first blog for Faces of Sciences

The KNAW and De Jonge Akademie present Faces of Science, a platform for talented young researchers. They provide insights into their lives and research through videos, blogs, articles and more. Maastricht University’s Gladys Akom Ankobrey recently joined and her first contribution appeared this week.

The anthropologist investigates the lives of young people with Ghanaian roots in the Netherlands. Most of them grow up in families that live across different countries. They themselves live in the Netherlands but have many relatives in Ghana and often also in other countries. Despite the physical distance, family members remain involved in each other's lives. How do they do that and what does that mean for Dutch-Ghanaian youths?

(Please note: the KNAW website is only available in Dutch)
