20 years of sustainability research and education
ICIS, the International Centre for Integrated assessment and Sustainable development at Maastricht University, presented itself in a sneak preview at its 20-year jubilee in May 2018. Two main themes are central in our research: Sustainable Urban Development (e.g. energy, housing, mobility, food-water-energy nexus, nature-based solutions, health, urban labs, smart cities), and Societal Value Creation & Transformation (e.g. innovation, transitions, new business models, social economy, global value chains).
Research
The knowledge acquired through these, often international, research projects also provide opportunities for local development and systems change. The research output is diverse (publications, new methods, innovative tools, etc.) and ICIS wants to reach out to fellow researchers, public and private actors, and everyone else who is interested in sustainability.
A full list of present and past research projects is available here.
