Rob de Greef appointed Endowed Professor of Law of Decentralised Authorities
Maastricht University’s Executive Board has appointed Dr Rob de Greef as Endowed Professor of Law of Decentralised Authorities, with effect from 1 September 2026. This chair will be embedded within the Public Law department.
The endowed chair has been established by the Province of Limburg to further strengthen expertise in the law of decentralised authorities, both in Master’s courses and in research. It builds on the recognition that this field of law can serve as an important link between constitutional law and administrative law.
De Greef will actively seek to collaborate with PhD candidates and senior colleagues working in the fields of constitutional and administrative law. The joint development of education and research across the broad field of the law of decentralised authorities will be an important part of his role.In addition, he will play an active role in initiating and implementing initiatives within the scope of the chair, including in collaboration with the regional legal profession and regional government.
Alongside his work as a legal adviser to decentralised authorities, De Greef is affiliated with Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he teaches decentralisation law in Bachelor’s, Master’s and postgraduate education. He is an editor of commentaries on legislation and has conducted major research projects in the field of decentralisation law together with colleagues from various universities.
