Today Prof. Martin Paul, President of the UM Executive Board, will receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Rijeka, Croatia. Due to the corona measures, the presentation will take place during an online meeting as part of the annual Dies Academicus of the Croatian University.

Martin Paul has been awarded the honorary doctorate for his role in establishing alliances of European universities and specifically for “his personal contribution to the development of higher education and science at the University of Rijeka,” the university said in its decision. The University of Rijeka is affiliated with Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE), chaired by Martin Paul. The university is also a member of the YERUN (Young European Research Universities) network, co-founded by Martin Paul.

It is the third honorary doctorate for the president of the UM Executive Board. Previously, the Universität Würzburg (Germany) and the Lobachevsky University in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia) also awarded him an honorary doctorate.
