Harro van Lente appointed chairman of Netherlands Health Council committee
The Netherlands Health Council (Gezondheidsraad) has installed a committee to prepare an advisory report on preventive signalling of dementia. Harro van Lente was asked to chair this committee. The preparation of the advice will take a year and will be ready in November 2025.
About the committee and its report
Dementia is a very profound disease for the people who get it and their environment. At the request of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Netherlands Health Council has appointed a committee to work on an advisory report on the possibilities and desirability of early detection of dementia. The committee investigates what is known in science about the effect of early detection and early interventions on, for example, the course of the disease, the quality of life and the care and support needed. Ethical and legal aspects are also considered.
