Nilay Barlas (N.)

Nilay Barlas is a PhD candidate at the FeMMiWork Project, where she investigates Turkish women's migration and paid work in West Germany and France between 1960 and 1985. As part of this research, she is interested in gendered migration and labor regimes as well as questions of knowledge production and epistemic inequality. 
Prior to this role, she worked as a research assistant at the project titled "Many Moving Parts: Continuity, Disruption and Change in Global Humanitarian Aid Relations" (HumGlobal) at Bielefeld University and the project "Employment Relations in Indonesia’s Commercial Fishing Industry" at Sydney University. Her broader research interests include labor sociology, historical sociology, and critical historiography. 
N. Barlas completed her BA in Political Science at Hacettepe University (Ankara, Turkiye) and her MA in Sociology and Anthropology at Bielefeld University (Bielefeld, Germany).
