Webinar: Showcasing AI in practice

-

During our new webinar series on AI in education, we invite colleagues to share how they are creatively integrating AI into their teaching and learning practice.

In this session, we’re delighted to welcome Dave Cass, Head of Leadership and Instructional Design at the Maastricht School of Management, who will talk to us about worldbuilding with AI:

From Dungeons & Dragons to saving lives: Worldbuilding with AI

How do you get students to read, think, and care again? This short session explores how AI-powered worldbuilding can transform the classroom from passive learning into shared adventure. Drawing on live teaching cases – from leadership simulations to medical training – you’ll see how narrative design and generative tools can immerse learners in complex, human-centred worlds. Participants will learn how to adapt these techniques to their own disciplines, using AI to boost engagement, critical thinking, and collaboration – whether teaching in person or online.

This will be followed by Connie Drosinou from University College Venlo sharing her experiences in designing assignments that both embrace and move beyond Generative AI:

Integrating GenAI into assessment to deepen course learning and teach critical thinking

Summary of example assignment integrating GenAI: This assignment integrates generative AI (GenAI) as a catalyst for critical thinking rather than an all-knowing tool to produce answers. Students must use GenAI to explore a performance psychology topic of their own choice, then critically evaluate the accuracy, biases, and scientific validity of the outputs. They compare findings in small groups, synthesise insights, and deliver a group presentation. The design helps students develop AI literacy, strengthens their ability to question information, and connects psychological concepts to real-life performance contexts.

After each presentation, there is time for immediate questions and after both talks, we’ll open the floor for a broader discussion: a chance to exchange ideas, ask questions and get inspired by what others are trying in their teaching.  Please feel free to share your own ideas and experiences too!

This activity may count towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) if relevant to your situation.

Can't make this date? You can sign up for the recording here and we'll let you know as soon as it is available.
