With our population getting older and older, loss of teeth will be a growing problem. An incidental circumstance is simultaneous loss of bone. One of the challenges of artificial teeth implantation is to develop methods to stop this loss of bone and to stimulate bone regeneration, to allow stable implants. The studies described in this thesis are the first steps to understand the process of bone regeneration with the help of blood clots and to start to develop uniform guidelines for treatment.
