"Implementing Novel Strategies to Promote Informatics, Research and Education (INSPIRE): Building Capacity for Sickle Cell Disease Diagnosis, Management, and Treatment in Low-Resource Settings"

The overall aim of this research is to produce relevant knowledge pertaining to best practices for capacity building for sickle cell anemia (SCA) with a specific focus on the intersection of informatics, clinical research, and provider education within health systems in resource-limited settings. To achieve this overarching goal, the thesis assesses knowledge gaps, observe health infrastructure outcomes and health policy opportunities, explore strategies to mitigate morbidity and mortality, and describes a theoretical model that integrates informatics, research, and education into a change management-driven capacity-building framework. This research underscores the importance of North-South partnerships and the impact of education and technology transfer to build capacity in resource-limited settings with the goal of improving outcomes for children and adults with SCA.
