"Imaging-based AI to inform head and neck cancer management and beyond"
This thesis investigated the use of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to analyse medical imaging for patients with cancers. In the research, a new AI algorithm was developed to detect aggressive features of head and neck cancers with high accuracy. The algorithm was able to help physicians make more accurate diagnosis of these high-risk features. Additionally, the candidate identified the current challenges facing AI in clinical care and proposed pathways forward to improve clinical translation of AI tools.
