Maastricht Migration Lecture Series: Race and Migration in the United States and Europe
Dr Ali Chaudhary, Rutgers University & International Migration Institute, Amsterdam
The large-scale protests against racism and police brutality in the USA during the summer of 2020 reverberated across Europe. Migrants and ethnonational minority communities across Europe protested in solidarity and to raise awareness of systematic discrimination at the hands of law enforcement entities throughout Europe.
The 'racial awakening' on the streets and in universities in the USA and across Europe suggest a Transatlantic movement for global racial justice may be emerging.
Join Dr Ali R. Chaudhary on 24 February 2021 in a public seminar to explore this question by discussing the history of race and migration in the USA and how it compares with contemporary Europe.
