Let your voice resonate!

-

As teachers, educators and lecturers, our voice is a crucial aspect of our daily practice. And if you regularly give talks or stand in front of a group, you may sometimes find that you get tired of speaking, maybe even sometimes your voice hurts. Then it is important to know how to use your voice properly.

In addition, it is good to experience how to reach the other person with your voice. Some people tend to sound dominant in a room, while others are just too cautious. What space do you take and give through your voice in a conversation?

We will learn how the voice works through various exercises. How do you use your voice optimally (balance between effort and relaxation)? Then we will explore the right use of the voice to reach the other person. How does the distance between speaker and listener, but also the space itself, influence the control of the voice? When do you speak too loud or too soft and how does the listener react to that?

After this, we link to a text of your choice. How can you give your story the speaker it deserves?

In a collaborative effort, we explore the strengths of each speaker. What adjustments can you make as a speaker to make your story a good one?

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Know how to use their voice properly,
  • Understand how to reach the other person through the use of their voice,
  • Can reinforce the content of their story through use of voice.

This activity may count towards your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) if relevant to your situation.
