C.C.J.M. Simons

Research profile

I am the principal investigator in the Netherlands Cohort Study since 2024. Our research focus is on developing a better understanding of the etiology and prognosis of cancer by taking into account tumor heterogeneity. We differentiate molecular tumor subtypes based on mutations found in the tumor or differences in protein expression in the  tumor. Our current focus is on colorectal and breast cancer.

I am also involved in the Energy for life after ColoRectal cancer (ENCORE) study. My research focus within EnCoRe is on chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), which affects many colorectal cancer patients treated with an oxaliplatin-containing regimen for years after treatment. Our current focus is on investigating the role of body composition in the dosing of oxaliplatin and the development and course of neuropathic complaints.
