Faculty Council

The Faculty Council is the faculty’s representative body, consisting of academic staff, support staff, and students. The council plays an important role within the faculty and represents the interests of all groups. Its members are elected from within their respective groups and represent those constituencies within the faculty. The council also advises the Faculty Board on matters relating to education, research, and the functioning of the faculty.

The council also has important powers, including the right of consent on the faculty budget, faculty regulations, parts of the education and examination regulations, and the adoption of comprehensive policy documents on education, research, internationalisation, and guidelines for academic conduct. In addition, the council has the right to advise on topics such as the appointment of professors.

The council consists of twelve members: five representatives of the academic staff (WP), one representative of the support staff (OBP), and six students. Staff members are elected for a term of two years, students for one year. Meetings with the Faculty Board are held approximately every four weeks and are open to all. Anyone within the faculty may attend these meetings from the public gallery.

Student Council

The Student Council is a platform where student members from various representative bodies, committees, and study associations meet. Its purpose is to exchange information, discuss viewpoints, and jointly bring forward topics to the faculty’s agenda.

The Student Council consists of students who are also active in:

  • the Faculty Council
  • the Educational Programme Committees
  • the Library Committee
  • the Faculty Board
  • the study associations

The Student Council meets several times a year. This ensures that student representatives stay well informed about developments within the faculty and allows them to jointly strengthen their voice towards the Faculty Board and other bodies.
