R. Lopez Garcia, PhD Candidate
Raquel is a PhD candidate at the Department of Health, Ethics and Society and at the Mental Health and Neuroscience Research Institute. With an interdisciplinary background in philosophy, global studies and psychology, her research interests lie at the intersection of mental health, philosophy and politics, as well as the philosophy of psychiatry, especially how it can be approached through a phenomenological lens. Her PhD project focuses on a comprehensive analysis of the ethical and social implications of digital innovation and in-person mental health care for young people, as part of YOUTHreach and Youth-GEMS, two Horizon Europe projects.
Raquel holds a Master's degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from Pompeu Fabra University and Sciences Po Paris. Her academic background also includes undergraduate studies in Law, and she is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Before joining Maastricht University, she worked as a Research Assistant at New York University. Her professional experience also includes work at the Spanish think tank Future Policy Lab and at international consulting firms.
