Mr Nobody Against Putin
Mr Nobody Against Putin follows teacher Pavel Talankin at a school in Karabash, a poor mining town near the Ural Mountains. When Putin invades Ukraine in 2022, Talankin sees his school and its pupils change. His classroom, once a safe place filled with humour and democratic ideals, is used as a platform for military state propaganda. While filming his pupils on commission from the school, Talankin also directly documents the effect of the propaganda machine of the Putin regime, which uses every possible means to steer Russian public opinion during the protracted war in Ukraine. A disconcerting and frank documentary about a brave whistle-blower, who endangers his own life in order to reveal the destructive militarisation of daily life in Russia.
The film will be introduced by an expert.
