Dr G. Goyal, Ph.D.
Gaurvi is an Assistant Professor with focus on bio inspired machine vision. She has a PhD in Computer Vision which focused on view invariant action recognition with RGB cameras and how to minimize resource requirements while training neural networks. She also has degrees in advanced robotics and electronics and communications. She is passionate about contributing to sustainable systems.
Expertises
She works on event based cameras and computer vision, with a strong focus on human centered application, like human pose estimation and human motion. The main theme of her research is to leverage the latest developments in Machine Learning, Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence to create high frequency, low compute applications with event cameras.
Career history
Before joining MU, Gaurvi spent 4 years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Italian Institute of technology, with a leadership role in the later years. During this time, she worked with Event cameras applied to human based inputs and human centered applications. She worked on 3 different EU consortium projects, APRIL, VOJEXT and PRIMI. She also actively contributed to an industrial collaboration with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Tokyo.
