AiNed Fellowship grant awarded to researcher at the Faculty of Law
In the recent allocation of grants within the AiNed Fellowship program, the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University was awarded a Fellowship for a research project by Dr. Konrad Kollnig. With the project 'RegTech4AI: Pioneering Regulatory Technologies for AI and Making AI Regulation Work in Practice', Kollnig and his team want to bridge the gap between AI regulations and their practical implementation.
The project combines expertise in law and information to develop technologies for law enforcement agencies and businesses. These should support them in the implementation of laws such as the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the upcoming AI regulation.
Dean of the Faculty of Law Jan Smits responds enthusiastically to the award and Kollnig's achievement: “We are pleased to share this great achievement, which recognizes the excellent work and dedication of our researchers to promoting innovation and advances in AI and regulation. We look forward to the impact the project will have in the field of AI research and on society. Our congratulations go out to Dr. Kollnig and the entire team. We wish them lots of success in the continuation of this project.”
In this round, four other projects, including a project of Rianne Fijten (Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, UM), were also rewarded with an AiNed Fellowship grant. These projects focus on various topics, including AI in the medical world, large-scale data processing, and developing more human-centric AI models.
More information about these projects can be found here.
