Questions related to my diploma

My diploma is lost or stolen

A diploma is an official document that can be issued only once. If you lost or damaged your diploma, we can supply you with certified copies of the diploma and/or copies of the diploma folder. It’s not possible to supply a duplicate of the diploma. Contact us via the Student Intranet or get in touch with the Education Office (+31 43 38 84 020 or askpsy@maastrichtuniversity.nl) for more information.

I need to prove that I graduated

The diploma folder contains:

  • Your diploma;
  • Three certified copies of the diploma;
  • diploma supplement with a grading table;
  • One original transcript of records (results), also in English for the Dutch Bachelor track;
  • Two certified copies of the transcript;
  • Any additionally obtained certificates, such as GZ, BAPD, Honours or MaRBle.

Tip: DUO also offers a digital diploma register with free download options

I need an explanation of the Dutch grading system

A letter explaining the Dutch grading system can be found on the FPN Student Intranet. If you do not have access, please contact the FPN Service Desk: (+31 43 38 84 020 or askpsy@maastrichtuniversity.nl).

I want to collect my diploma

Note: most of this information will be found on the FPN Student Intranet. If you do not have access, please contact the Education Office (+31 43 38 84 020 or askpsy@maastrichtuniversity.nl).

Your diploma is the official confirmation of your achievement - congratulations on reaching this significant milestone! Depending on your graduation date, there are various options for receiving your diploma.

Please note: it may take several weeks or even months before your diploma is available. In the meantime, the Graduation Statement is often accepted as official proof of graduation. For more information, please refer to Graduation Documents.

Options for collecting your diploma

Your formal graduation date determines your available options. This date is the last day of the month in which you submitted your final work and fulfilled all requirements regarding results, registration and payment. This may be applied retroactively—please refer to the Graduation procedure for more details.

If your formal graduation date falls between 31 October and 30 June of the previous academic year

Once you have received your Graduation Statement, your diploma will need to be ordered from a centralised facility. Due to this ordering and printing process, it will take several weeks before your diploma becomes available.

Following our email informing you that your diploma is ready, you may now choose one of the following options:

You are welcome to attend the November graduation ceremony of the current academic year, even if you have already collected your diploma folder in another way.

If your formal graduation date is 31 July or 31 August of the current academic year

You are welcome to attend the November graduation ceremony of the current academic year.

Please note: your diploma will only be available from the date of the ceremony. This means it cannot be  issued before the ceremony. If you do not attend the ceremony, your diploma will be available for collection from the Monday following the ceremony at the FPN Service Desk, or it can be send to you by registered post.

If your formal graduation date is 30 September of the current academic year

You are welcome to attend the November graduation ceremony of the current academic year. However, your diploma will not be ready in time for the ceremony. At the ceremony, you will receive an empty diploma folder.

Once you have received your Graduation Statement, your diploma needs to be ordered from a centralised facility. Due to this ordering and printing process, it will take several weeks before your diploma is available.

Following our email informing you that your diploma is ready, you may now choose one of the following options:

You are also welcome to attend the graduation ceremony of the following academic year, even if you have already received your diploma but would still like to attend a graduation ceremony.

If your formal graduation date is 31 October or later in the current academic year

Unfortunately, you will not be able to attend the November graduation ceremony of the current academic year, but you are welcome to join the November ceremony of the following academic year.

Once you have received your Graduation Statement, your diploma needs to be ordered from a centralised facility. Due to this ordering and printing process, it will take several weeks before your diploma is available.

Following our email informing you that your diploma is ready, you may now choose one of the following options:

What if my diploma gets lost or damaged?

Although rare, your diploma can get damaged or - even worse - get lost. Should this happen, please note that we can only send you certified copies of the diploma and the transcript (list of grades).

There might be easier options: in the DUO diploma register you can quickly and easily check your diploma details and download a digital copy of these. When used in its digital form (not printed!), it has the same status as a certified copy of your diploma. We can also email you a certified copy of the diploma. See Graduation Documents for more options.

If you do not have access to the FPN Student Intranet, please contact the Education Office (+31 43 38 84 020 or askpsy@maastrichtuniversity.nl).

How to get your diploma by post

We will always inform you by e-mail when your diploma is ready. Once you have that confirmation, you can request to get it by post. The procedure to get your diploma consists of two steps:

Step 1 produces the request email.

In step 2, you send the request email plus proof of identity.

  • Scan your national identity card/passport. Write the objective ("FPN DIPLOMA") + current date on the scan. Cross out your social security number (BSN).
  • Create a new email to the Education Office with the subject 'Diploma request'. You will need your UM (alumni) account to do this.
  • Paste the text from the confirmation email, including your responses, into the message.
  • Attach the scans of your UM-card and identity card/passport to the message.
  • Submit your message.

We will confirm the receipt of your request within 5 working days.  For you, the 'diploma by post' -service is free of charge.

If you do not have access to the FPN Student Intranet, please contact the Education Office (+31 43 38 84 020 or askpsy@maastrichtuniversity.nl).
