Pop-up store Visietheek: shopping your own dream centre
More than 100 enthusiastic and curious citizens from Meerssen (municipality north of Maastricht) visited the Visietheek, a pop-up store in Meerssen on November 21st. Each one of them shopped his or her personal dream centre for Meerssen together, built on inspiring examples from elsewhere.
From arty shops and speech rooms, a producers' market and trial kitchens, to baskets of local products delivered at home and cooperative hotel rooms scattered throughout the envisioned centre. Numerous fascinating ideas for the future of Meerssen passed the review in the Visietheek, a concept developed by foresight company Pantopicon in close collaboration with Maastricht Sustainability Institute.
The Visietheek is a first step in a participatory vision development trajectory of Meerssen. The created centre images are now being further analysed by the project team and the resulting insights will be shared with the policymakers. Together they form building blocks for a new vision for the centre.
