Dutch Hacking Health Award for Christel van Beijsterveld and department physical therapy MUMC+
From 20-22 May 2016, the Maastricht version of the ‘Dutch Hacking Health’ was organised by Maastricht UMC+. This Hacking Health weekend was primarily aimed at developing digital innovations in healthcare.
The absolute winner was the Fit+ app developed by Christel van Beijsterveld and her colleagues of the physical therapy department of the Maastricht UMC+.
The FIT+ app supports patients in their self-management of functional recovery during their hospital stay. Patients are able to set personal goals, gain insight in their progress and have access to their personal training scheme. The purpose is to motivate patients to be more physically active and get them more involved in their own functional recovery.
Christel is a PhD candidate at the Department of Epidemiology, and her research is embedded in the CAPHRI research line Functioning and Rehabilitation. She participates in the project ‘Better in, Better out in abdominal surgery’ supervised by Prof. Nico van Meeteren, Dr Ton Lenssen and Dr Bart Bongers.
