What’s up with gender equality in Horizon Europe?
‘What’s up, EU?’ is the name of Maastricht University (UM) Campus Brussels’ new short talk series dedicated to learning and discussing about issues that are high on the European Union (EU) agenda.
The first virtual talk in the 'What's up, EU?' series was dedicated to gender equality in Horizon Europe.
Gender equality is one of the key priorities of the European Commission. This is going to be reflected in policy and legislative initiatives such a Horizon Europe, the European Union’s framework programme for research and innovation for the period 2021-27, in which a number of changes will be introduced.
Mina Stareva's talk on gender equality in Horizon Europe
In this edition of ‘What’s up, EU?’, guest speaker Mina Stareva from the European Commission talked about how gender equality is going to shape Horizon Europe.
Mina Stareva is the Head of the Gender Equality Sector in DG Research and Innovation, the European Commission. Prior to joining the European values & democracy unit in DG Research and Innovation, she has been working on developing the European Research Area policy and international cooperation.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from Robert Schuman – Strasbourg University and a Master of Arts degree in Political Sciences from the College of Europe.
Mina gave us an introduction to gender in EU Research & Innovation, talked us through the new gender equality requirements for participating in Horizon Europe, and shed light on potential Horizon Europe funding in the field (to the limited extent that this could be discussed ahead of the publication of the calls).
