Nowadays, companies and organisations are increasingly operating in a global economy, in multiple jurisdictions. If your organisation deals with customers, suppliers or people from other countries, only compliance with the GDPR will be not enough to ensure an effective worldwide Privacy and Data compliance strategy.
The GDPR is considered being the Gold-Standard in Data Protection laws in the world, but one should keep in mind that countries around the world (may) have other, sometimes very strict, privacy and data protection laws. Therefore, international privacy compliance is incredibly hard and if you only focus on one region - then you're not compliant.
