Career history
Sascha Hardt defended his doctoral dissertation on parliamentary immunity in various EU Member States and the European Parliament in 2013. He is a member of the Maastricht Centre for European Law (MCEL) and a fellow of the national Montesquieu Institute. His research in the field of comparative constitutional law focuses on the accountability of elected office-holders and the interaction between political processes and developments within constitutional law.
From 2019 to 2022, he coordinated LEAP, a project within the Dutch-funded Orange Knowledge Programme aimed at modernising legal education in Indonesia. He has since remained active in Indonesia, including as a regular guest lecturer at several universities, as a co-organiser of training courses for legal staff (for example for the Indonesian Ministry of Education), and in various other capacities. He has also appeared as a sworn expert before the Indonesian Constitutional Court.
In 2025, he is a member of a consortium that, at the request of the European Parliament, conducts research into the free mandate of parliamentarians in the European Union and its Member States.
