Marielle Heijltjes reappointed as dean of the School of Business and Economics
The Executive Board of Maastricht University has reappointed Prof. Marielle Heijltjes as dean of the School of Business and Economics. The Executive Board expresses its appreciation for the direction and results the faculty has achieved over the past four years under her leadership and has great confidence in the faculty’s development in the coming years.
Valuable collaborations
Marielle looks back with satisfaction on what has been built together with colleagues both within and outside the faculty. We are a remarkably diverse faculty where knowledge from business, economics, sustainability science, governance, and public policy converges. I am proud that we have succeeded in connecting these fields within our research and education in such a way that we create impressive intellectual and societal impact at the regional, national, and global levels.
Looking to the future
The dean on her goals for her upcoming term: “I am very excited to continue on the path we have set: we have just launched a number of wonderful initiatives in the areas of AI, Europe, and our external relations, which stem from our Strategic Roadmap 2026–2028, we have jointly formulated our SBE-wide research strategy in support of the national sector vision, our recently awarded BSIS (Business School Impact System) label offers excellent opportunities to further increase our impact as SBE… and I could go on. But above all, I want to do everything I can to maintain and strengthen our sense of community.”
Rector Magnificus a.i. Jan Smits on behalf of the Executive Board: The Executive Board is extremely pleased that Mariëlle is willing to serve a second term as dean. Mariëlle knows how to implement her vision for the future of SBE in a highly unifying manner. We very much look forward to continuing our collaboration.
