Improving healthcare education in Suriname

The pressure on the healthcare system in Suriname is increasing due to limited resources, staff shortages, and a growing demand for healthcare. By training healthcare professionals in effective and context focused education, they can better prepare future generations of healthcare providers.

SHE Collaborates and the Partnership of Educational Institutions Netherlands Suriname (SONS) are joining forces to develop a five day Enabling Learning course that supports healthcare professionals in effectively transferring knowledge and skills. Participants will learn to apply evidence informed educational principles, strengthen their teaching skills, and analyse how educational practices can be improved in a targeted way. In this way, we are building a growing network of trainers that contributes to sustainable quality improvement in healthcare in Suriname. We also aim to shift from traditional knowledge transfer to facilitating learning, an approach that has been shown to improve the quality of healthcare. 

Crowdfunding campaign

To make this project possible, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched. Our goal is to enable at least twenty participants from different healthcare and educational institutions to take part in the course. To achieve this, we need €20,000. Contributions above this amount will increase the project's impact and make it possible to reach even more healthcare professionals.
