Europe Day
Celebrating Europe Day with our alumni in Brussels
To celebrate Europe Day on 9 May, FASoS student Lisa travelled to Brussels to meet with five of our inspiring alumni who are currently shaping European policy and advocacy. In this special video, they share why Europe Day matters, how it’s celebrated in Brussels, and what the idea of Europe means to them.
Our alumni featured in the video are:
- Cas van de Ven, Policy Assistant at the European Commission
- Virginijus Sinkevičius, MEP & Vice President of the Greens/EFA group
- Caitlin Reed, Accredited Parliamentary Assistant in the European Parliament
- Bart Schreurs, Policy & Strategy Member at ACEA
- Dominique Selier, Policy Officer at Neth-ER
All five studied either European Studies or European Public Affairs at our faculty. Their careers are a testament to where a FASoS degree can take you!
A big thank you to our alumni for taking the time to share their reflections and experiences. 🎥
Europe Day, celebrated on 9 May, marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration in 1950, which laid the foundation for what would later become the European Union. It’s a day to celebrate peace and unity in Europe and to reflect on the EU’s achievements and values. Across the EU, institutions often open their doors to the public, and events are held to raise awareness about European integration and cooperation.
