As a Scientific Information Specialist in the biomedical domain, I support researchers, teaching staff, and students in effectively navigating and using information resources associated with FHML and MUMC+, including scholarly journals, books, and both general and specialized databases. I am also involved in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of library collections, ensuring their alignment with academic and research needs.
Key activities include:
-Designing and delivering training sessions and online learning materials focused on information literacy and responsible use of information.
-Assisting researchers and students in the development of advanced literature search strategies, with particular expertise in searches for systematic and structured reviews.
-Monitoring and integrating new developments in bibliographic databases, search platforms, and discovery tools.
-Analysing the use of journals, books, and databases within the faculty, and advising on collection development and optimisation to support scientific education and research.
-Providing tailored advice and one-on-one support to staff and students on making effective and critical use of available information sources.
