Career history

Julian studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics and the University of Oxford, graduating in 2015. This was followed by and MPhil and DPhil in Economics, also at the University of Oxford, during which he spent time at the European Central Bank and Goldman Sachs. He then worked as a Research Fellow at London Business School, a New Map of Life Fellow at the Stanford Center on Longevity, and a Teaching Fellow at University College London, before joining Maastricht University as an Assistant Professor in 2023.  Julian currently also holds positions as a Research Fellow at the Ellison Institute of Technology and as an Academic Consultant at the World Bank Group.
