Privatization

The EU requires Greece to privatise most of its public companies. There are similar, voluntary plans in other European countries as well. It seems, therefore, that privatisation might be "the solution" to the big problems of our time.

However, three big previously independent Dutch banks had to be rescued by the Dutch government - or "nationalized" as the Dutch say. This leads to the question whether the motives for privatisation are found in society or in greed for individual profit.

The Debate Café is a Studium Generale cooperation with a UM study association. The series covers important recent trends in science and society and offers an opportunity for experts, researchers, students and interested people to enter into the debate and exchange their views and ideas

This event is a cooperation between Studium Generale and SCOPE | Economics.
