In conversation with the president of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides
On October 14, Studio Europa will welcome Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, to Maastricht University for a special conversation on Europe’s future, the Mediterranean region, and Cyprus’s place at the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East.
In his speech, “Cyprus and the European project: Bridging Europe and the Middle East on the path to strategic autonomy,” President Christodoulides will reflect on Cyprus’s recent EU Council presidency and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the European project. He will share his perspective on the role of Cyprus in strengthening Europe’s connections with its southern neighbourhood, as well as on the wider geopolitical developments shaping the Mediterranean and Europe’s pursuit of greater strategic autonomy.
Following his speech, the president will join a conversation with the audience, offering an opportunity to explore these themes further and address questions directly to the head of state.
