Career prospects
You will have a wide array of career paths to choose from, including:
- Working in the development sector in NGOs, and other similar organisations, as a researcher, project manager, board member, strategist, awareness campaigner, fundraiser or lobbyist
- Joining the public sector in government agencies as a policy maker, analyst, researcher or project developer
- Entering the private sector as a consultant on developmental impacts
- Working in the media, as a reporter, copywriter or press officer, a think tank
- Entering a think tank or into academia, as a researcher or PhD candidate

The Master Career Track

The Master Career Track (MCT) is a programme for master's students designed to inspire and empower you to confidently kickstart your career after graduation. By the end of the programme, you will have the insights, skills, and tools you need to pursue a career that truly fits you.
The Master Career Track consists of three interactive lectures:

Identify your strengths, values, and passions - Explore the labour market
Discover job opportunities and connect with people in your field of interest - Enter the labour market
Learn how to apply for a job successfully
The Master Career Track is delivered by experienced career coaches from UM Career Services, who remain available for personalised guidance and support for up to six months after graduation.

I applied to this programme because it comprised many topics I am immensely interested in. I was curious to learn about development theory, but also about the more practical aspects of development work. Furthermore, I had read about problem-based learning, the unique educational method used at Maastricht University.
