Code red due to extreme heat: important information for students

Dear students,

The Dutch ‘KNMI’ has issued a code red warning for this Friday due to extreme heat. Your safety and health have priority, so we ask you to take good care of yourself and follow the official advice from the KNMI and RIVM.

What does this mean for your education and exams?

• Scheduled education and exams will take place: Where possible, activities will be moved to air-conditioned rooms or offered online. Due to the summer period, there are a very limited number of activities.
• Keep an eye on Canvas: Check Canvas carefully beforehand for the latest updates regarding the location or format of your class or exam.
• University buildings remain open: Our buildings will stay open should you wish to come to campus.
• Travel safely: Be careful when traveling during the hottest hours of the day and make sure to bring plenty of water with you.
• Health issues? If you are unable to participate in an educational activity due to health reasons related to the heat, please contact your lecturer directly.
• Graduation ceremony or other event tomorrow? Communication regarding specific measures will follow from the respective faculty.

• Take care of yourself and take the necessary precautions against the heat.

Code rood vanwege extreme hitte: belangrijke informatie voor studenten
 

Beste studenten, 

Het KNMI heeft voor aanstaande vrijdag code rood afgekondigd vanwege extreme hitte. Jouw veiligheid en gezondheid staan voorop, en we vragen je dan ook om goed op jezelf te passen en de officiële adviezen van het KNMI en het RIVM op te volgen.

Wat betekent dit voor jouw onderwijs en tentamens?

• Onderwijs en tentamens die er nog zijn gaan door: Activiteiten worden waar mogelijk verplaatst naar gekoelde ruimtes of worden online aangeboden. Het gaat vanwege de zomerperiode om een beperkt aantal activiteiten. 
• Houd Canvas in de gaten: Check Canvas vooraf goed voor de meest actuele updates over de locatie of de vorm van jouw les of tentamen.
• Universiteitsgebouwen zijn open: onze gebouwen blijven open mocht je ernaartoe willen komen.
• Reis veilig: Pas op met reizen tijdens de warmste uren van de dag en neem onderweg voldoende water mee.
• Gezondheidsklachten? Kun je om gezondheidsredenen vanwege de hitte niet deelnemen aan een onderwijsactiviteit? Neem dan direct contact op met de betreffende docent.
• Afstudeerceremonie of ander evenement morgen? Communicatie volgt vanuit de betreffende faculteit over de maatregelen.

Pas goed op jezelf en neem de nodige warmtemaatregelen.
