In Memoriam Mansoor Shariff
With great sadness we announce the passing of Dr Mansoor Shariff. Born and educated in India, Dr Mansoor Shariff worked as an Assistant Professor at the College of Dentistry of King Khalid University in Abha, Saudi Arabia, and came to Maastricht University in 2024 to participate in the course Writing a PhD Research Proposal at the School of Health Professions Education (SHE).
After successfully completing his course, he embarked on his PhD project with great enthusiasm and commitment, driven by a genuine passion for improving education and a deep interest in how quality cultures can be fostered in meaningful ways. From the very start, he stood out as an engaged and thoughtful researcher. With over 18 years of teaching experience and 27 published papers in the fields of prosthodontics and education, he brought a rich professional background and a reflective scholarly approach to his doctoral work.
His curiosity and energy were evident in every conversation, and his ideas reflected a sincere desire to make a positive contribution to health professions education. Although his time with us was far too short, his dedication left a lasting impression.
We are grateful for the opportunity to have known and worked with him. He will be remembered for his warmth and collegiality. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who mourn his loss.
