"Respiratory Monitoring and Optimization of Fetal-Neonatal Transition in High Risk Infants"
This PhD research focused on how babies adapt during the first moments after birth, especially when they are born too early. Preterm infants often struggle with the sudden change from the protected environment of the womb to the outside world, particularly with breathing and circulation. These first minutes are critical for survival and long-term health. The work explored how advanced, non-invasive monitoring tools can detect early signs of difficulty and guide physicians in providing the right support at the right time. By combining careful observation of vital signs with innovative technologies, the research aimed to personalise care for fragile newborns, helping them stabilise more safely. The ultimate goal is to improve outcomes for premature infants, reducing complications and supporting healthier development from the very beginning of life.
