Wolfgang Giernalczyk appointed as Department Head and Programme Director of UCM
The Faculty of Science and Engineering has appointed Wolfgang Giernalczyk, as Department Head and Programme Director of UCM. He will start on 1 February 2023 for an initial term of four years. Wolfgang succeeds Jos Welie, who was Dean since May 2020.
Wolfgang Giernalczyk has built up extensive experience in both the educational and the administrative domain during his career at the College. Having started out as a lecturer and academic advisor, he became Curriculum Coordinator in 2016 and Director of Education in 2019. Since early 2022, he has also acted as interim Managing Director.
"I am looking forward to shaping the future of the College in dialogue with students and staff. The path ahead will be a joint endeavor, addressing challenges and fetching opportunities with a strong team on my side, in a vibrant academic community."
Wolfgang Giernalczyk is enthusiastic about the appointment: “UCM is a great place to work. It is a special community of learners, where staff and students alike are highly motivated and committed. Day to day, everyone is doing their best to create an exceptional and inspiring educational environment. This year UCM is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the College into its third decade – hopefully, a reviving decade with new initiatives that build up on the College’s existing strengths and unique identity."
