Upcoming student wins Topsector Chemistry Scholarship

The Royal Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI) has awarded a scholarship to Vincent Nieboer, newly admitted master’s student Biobased Materials.

Vincent won a so-called Topsector Chemistry scholarship, which aims to encourage chemistry studies and increase the flow of qualified chemists into industry. Thanks to the scholarship, Vincent will follow the master’s programme Biobased Materials from 2019 until 2021.

Thus far, VNCI awarded nearly 100 scholarships to top students in collaboration with 29 companies and 11 universities. Maastricht University is among these partners. The scholarship application process involves ‘match-making sessions’ with companies. Vincent was matched with SABIC, located on the Brightlands Chemelot Campus, and therefore has the opportunity to follow an internship with the chemical manufacturing multinational. He will also attend the meet ups and professional workshops organized by VNCI.

“We look forward welcoming him to the Biobased Materials Master programme”, said Julia Sewall, the Programme director, who is working to strengthen the partnership between Maastricht University and VNCI.
