Appointment of prof.mr. Steef M. Bartman as Professor of Corporate Group Liability

The ever-increasing intensity of international trade and commercial activity often goes hand in hand with the separation of assets in a cross-border group structure by using multiple corporate vehicles under a joint or centralized policy. The legal principle of limited liability combined with intra group transactions may make the group company that owns the relevant assets “judgment proof”, giving the group’s central management the option to externalize the operational risks of its activities and leaving creditors empty handed. The creation of a chair devoted to Corporate Group Liability aims to further the Faculty’s participation in this process of (re)thinking the legal principle of limited liability.
