Khalid Abdullah, LL.M. (K.)

Khalid Abdullah is a Lecturer and Tutor at Maastricht University, where he teaches EU Value Added Tax (VAT), Customs Law, and International Supply Chain Taxation at the Master’s level. His academic work focuses on the legal and systemic interaction between EU indirect taxation and international trade, with particular emphasis on cross-border supply chains, regulatory compliance, and the evolving framework of EU consumption taxes.

 

In addition to his academic appointment, Khalid is an Attorney-at-law (Senior Manager) and EMEA Knowledge Lead at KPMG Meijburg & Co, where he specialises in VAT, excise duties, trade, customs, sustainability, and other consumption tax-related law. His practice is primarily devoted to strategic and compliance advisory in the field of global trade, as well as dispute resolution and litigation for businesses engaged in complex, multi-jurisdictional operations across a broad range of industries.

 

Khalid is a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisers and is registered as an attorney with the Netherlands Bar (Amsterdam). He is also a permanent author for a leading professional journal on customs, excise duties, VAT, and other cross-border taxation matters, reflecting his continued engagement with both doctrinal developments and practical implementation issues in EU VAT, excise, trade and customs law.

 

He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Tax Law, with a specialisation in Indirect Tax, from Tilburg University. His work is characterized by a combined academic and practice-oriented perspective, situated at the intersection of EU (tax) law, international trade, and regulatory governance.
