Vectors for Change Lecture – EDI or Bust
In this lecture, Dr. Manjeet Birk will share insights from her most recent research project, “EDI or Bust: Are university equity, diversity and inclusion policies working?” She will discuss some of the pedagogical innovations she has developed, as well as the systemic and institutional obstacles that make it challenging to build genuinely inclusive classrooms.
About the speaker
Manjeet Birk (she/her) is an interdisciplinary scholar whose work centers the lived experiences of racialized and Indigenous girls and women in Canada. Her research focuses on women’s organizing, social justice, and institutional racism through critical race, intersectional, and decolonizing frameworks. Her work is strongly informed by her community activism and long-standing collaborations with women’s organizations locally, nationally, and internationally.
We warmly encourage all students and colleagues engaged with issues of equity, justice, pedagogy, and institutional transformation to join this session.
We look forward to seeing many of you there.
Warm regards,
CGD Team
