Inaugural lecture Dr. Jeroen M. Hendriks
Appointed as "Professor of Nursing Science, in particular Integrated Care" in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences
"Integrated Care: an essential foundation for future-proof healthcare delivery”
Healthcare faces major challenges. Society is aging rapidly and the prevalence of multimorbidity is increasing. This makes healthcare increasingly complex. At the same time, there is a growing shortage of healthcare professionals, particularly nurses. This has major consequences for the future of healthcare.
This calls for a fundamental redesign in the form of innovative models of care.
In my inaugural lecture, I will discuss how integrated care can contribute to addressing these challenges and how innovative care models can be designed. I will also highlight the importance of professionalization and academization of the nursing profession in realizing future-proof healthcare.
