WiDS Maastricht 2025 | Talk 2 - "Making Tech Work: Bridging Ethics and Data Science" (14:30 - 14:50)

Dr. Dani Shanley is an Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Maastricht University. She leads the research cluster on the Ethics and Politics of Emerging Technologies and is also the coordinator of the graduate school program at the faculty. Dani's expertise is mainly within science and technology studies (STS) and the philosophy of technology, with a particular focus on reflexive, participatory design methodologies (or, responsible innovation), such as social labs and value sensitive design (VSD).  Dani currently works on AI and robotics, thinking with and through the lenses of responsibility, hype, and nonsense.

At the WiDS Maastricht 2025 Conference, Dani will hold a talk entitled "Making Tech Work: Bridging Ethics and Data Science".
