In Memoriam Huub Vrancken
Huub Vrancken finished his last active work day on 2 August 2018. After enjoying a hard-earned holiday of several weeks, he was set to retire on 16 October 2018. Huub had been looking forward to this for the past year. Unfortunately, he did not live to see that day.
Huub had grand plans. He wanted to enter local politics after retiring, live healthily and exercise regularly, and see all the sights he'd never had time for.
Huub was passionate about his work at the university and performed it with dedication for many years. In recent years, he had been seconded to Albron, where he also worked zealously. In fact, he couldn't pass an empty vending machine without filling it (even on weekends and holidays). Huub was always willing to lend a helping hand to colleagues and managers. He took care of the coffee machines at several locations if other colleagues didn't have time. He delivered orders for his colleagues and always had a listening ear for everyone he met. He was a colourful character who loved a good chat. Despite having had his official last workday, Huub could be found at UM buildings on a near-daily basis, helping colleagues with various tasks.
A memorial area has been created in Huub's memory in room 1.564a at UNS40 (near Mensa, behind the coffee machine). Here, you will have the chance to share your final memories of Huub in a memorial booklet, which will be given to his family.
The cremation ceremony will be held on Thursday 30 August at 13.30 in the auditorium of the Nedermaas crematorium at Vouershof 1 in Geleen.
Albron will be offering a limited selection of products on Thursday 30 August from 12.30 to 15.00, when Huub's direct colleagues will be attending the service.
Huub will be deeply missed by his colleagues at Facility Services and Albron
